Help Save Water By Scheduling a Plumbing Inspection

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, approximately 71% of the earth’s surface is covered in water. That means about 29% of the earth’s surface is land, and much of that borders on water of some sort.

Yes, that information is useful to some; but here in theCoachella Valley, not so much. Other than the Salton Sea, which is not particularly useful because of its high salinity, there is not much natural water to be seen. In short, water is a precious commodity here in the desert and it is the responsibility of all of us to conserve it as much as possible, especially during the wicked hot days of summer.

General Air Conditioning & Plumbing is committed to do its part to conserve and save water, and one of the ways we can do this is to help our customers make sure their plumbing systems are working the way they should be: efficiently, and without leaks and unnecessary waste. A great place to start is scheduling one of our 60-point plumbing inspections. Our professionally-licensed plumbing technicians will give your home’s plumbing system a thorough check-up, including inspecting all interior and exterior water lines, pipes and drains, your water heater and faucets and more. If there are issues in your home which are causing you to use more water than you should, or if there are any active leaks leading to water waste, we will find them and fix them. Not only will this help you conserve water and reduce your water bill, it will help prevent potential water damage to your home.

In the meantime, here are some water conservation tips from the Coachella Valley Water District:

  1. Run the dishwasher and washing machine only when full; no partial loads.
  2. Use a broom instead of a hose to clean off your driveway and patio.
  3. Install aerators on household faucets.
  4. Don’t throw unused water down the drain; use it for plant watering.
  5. If you must water your lawn, do it in the early morning or evening and turn off your sprinkler system when it rains.
  6. Shower use 101
  • Limit your time in the shower to 5 to 10 minutes, tops. Long showers waste an incredible amount of water.
  • No more than one shower per day, and there is nothing wrong with showering every other day.
  • Install a low flow shower head.

Water conservation is a must in the Coachella Valley, and the General urges you to join his troops in doing our part to protect this precious commodity. Call us today for more information or to schedule a home plumbing system inspection.
