Stand with the General and Folds of Honor

Posted on June 26, 2017

It was a decade ago when an Air National Guard Pilot from Oklahoma saw the body of a service member being taken off the plane he was on. It was that day Major Dan Rooney vowed to change the future for the spouses and children of service members killed or disabled while serving their country.

He took action and founded the organization Folds of Honor with a goal to provide scholarships to those family members. Once again, General Air Conditioning & Plumbing is doing its part to help this organization.

From now through July 31st, the General will donate $150 for every Platinum and Platinum Plus HVAC system installation and $50 for all other heating and cooling system installations.

You know you need a system but have been putting off the inevitable. Why not do it now and benefit the Folds of Honor organization at the same time?

Through the program, qualifying family members can apply for scholarships to help pay for tuition, books, and on-campus room and board. The amount of the scholarship, up to $5,000, is based on financial need which is determined during the application process.

There are higher education scholarships to help students in college and children’s scholarships to help those in K-12 schools. The money can be used for private school tuition, approved tutoring programs, and home schooling.

The group’s numbers tell an impressive story:

  • 12,500 scholarships awarded since 2007
  • Total value exceeds $55,000,000
  • 632 recipients from California

Behind each one of those numbers is a family with a story to tell. You can listen to some of them at the Folds of Honor website.

The General also wants you to mark your calendar for November 13, 2017. On that Monday after Veterans’ Day, the General’s team will take time off from air conditioning repair in and around Palm Springs to play in this year’s Desert Patriot Golf Tournament. We want you to join us with the tournament proceeds going to Folds of Honor. The General’s team won the golf tourney in 2016 and will be back to defend our title.

The group’s motto is, “Honor their sacrifice. Educate their legacy.” Help us help Folds of Honor complete their mission. Call the General to talk about your system replacement to help support this outstanding organization.
