October marks the start of something that we hold very dear to our heart at General Air Conditioning: Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Since 2008 the troops at General Air Conditioning have supported and donated over $25,000 in the fight of breast cancer. Much of their support has gone to the Desert Cancer Foundation since 2010. They work to support the DCF mission which is to help under- and uninsured men and women get the cancer screenings, ultrasounds, MRIs, and biopsies that they need, as thousands of Americans are unable to pay for the exorbitant costs of cancer treatment. The Desert Cancer Foundation has been raising awareness and funds for cancer in the Coachella Valley since 1994, and General Air Conditioning is proud to be a supporter of the foundation.
Our very own Frank Harrison has served as a board member the last few years for the Desert Cancer Foundation’s “Paint El Paseo Pink Walk” as well as many troop of the General participate in the walk! This October marks the 7th Annual Paint El Paseo Pink Walk and General is proud to have 76 General troops walk this year! On Saturday October 12, 2013, near a thousand participants came to The Gardens on El Paseo in support for breast cancer. Giving back to the community is integral to the strength of any region, and the Paint El Paseo Pink Walk is a great event that truly helps out those in the Coachella Valley. We all urge everyone to take part next year to make this a great annual event.
Every October, General Air Conditioning employees sport pink wristbands and place pink ribbons on company vans in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as well as donating a percentage of all General Air Conditioning sales for the month.
