How to Conserve Water & Get Cash in Your Pocket

Posted on June 14, 2017

Stop flushing money down the toilet. You say you would never do that? Well, you are if you have a water wasting toilet. Make the decision to replace it now, and you can get some extra money in your pocket instead of flushing it away. Depend on your local plumbing contractor, General Air Conditioning & Plumbing, to learn how.

The Coachella Valley Water District is offering rebates to get rid of the water-wasting toilets. The rebates are for $100 on each toilet, and each household can receive 2 rebates. With an offer like that it doesn’t make much sense to wait for a clogged or broken toilet, which means an emergency call to the plumber.

In order to qualify, the new toilet must use 1.28 gallons of water or less per flush. The General has several models to meet the standard.

We feature water-saving toilets from the following manufacturers:

  • Gerber – Gerber was among the first in the industry to convert its entire line of toilets to include high-efficiency options. The company is a longtime EPA WaterSense® partner,
  • Kohler – Offers several models of high-efficiency Toilets (HET) that can save a family of four up to 16,500 gallons of water every year.
  • Delta – Some of Delta’s water-saving toilets also include its hands-free FlushIQ technology. A series of sensors flush and fill the toilet. They can also detect potential leaks and help to prevent overflows.
  • Sterling – You can choose flush settings for solid or liquid waste to save even more water.
  • Mansfield – Offers a full line of high-efficiency toilets all of which are made in the U.S.
  • Toto – The company was founded in 1912 and manufactures several models of high-efficiency toilets.

General wants our clients to have more money in their pockets, but there is a larger issue at stake. We all remember what the last few years have been like. A historic drought led to severe water use restrictions. We want our clients to take action now to save every gallon of water they possibly can.

If you already have a water saving toilet, it’s imperative you maintain it properly. Call the General for any needed toilet repairs or other plumbing services. Ignoring a leaky toilet can waste up to 6,000 gallons of water every month. While we’re at it, the General can repair any leaking faucet in your house, take care of a clogged toilet or drain, and any other plumbing problems you might run into.

Thanks to an unusually wet winter, the governor lifted the drought emergency in April. But most experts agree the problem isn’t going away. So why not be proactive and buy your water-saving toilet now when you can get some extra cash?

Call General Air Conditioning & Plumbing and talk with our comfort advisors about all the ways you can cut your water use. It’s one more way we earn the title of  “The Best Little Air Conditioning and Plumbing Company in the Desert.”
